Image was taken on January 10, 2004.  This atmospheric phenomenon is caused by ice crystals suspended in the lower atmosphere and was about as interesting as any aurora that I have seen.  The image was taken just off the 90 Expressway and the lights were from the Walden Galleria Mall located in Cheektowaga N.Y.  This was a 4 second exposure taken with the a Canon EOS Digital Rebel and 18-55mm Canon EF lens at f/5.6.  Very Cool!!.
