Convert the SkyWatcher AZ-GTi to an ADM Accessories style clamping system. Fits V Series dovetail bars. Incorporates a split clamp design that grips the dovetail bar along the entire surface of the saddle and will not dent or scratch the dovetail bar. The dovetail clamp has a large “T” handle locking knob for tool free operation, spring loaded jaws, anodized aluminum and stainless steel construction. 1.75″ Long, 2.5″ Wide, .75″ Thick, Wt. 5 oz.

Happy with the clamp itself. Easy install. It’s nice to no longer be poking pits in my rail and it does feel more secure than the original (with the one caveat below). I do wish the knob was a bit beefier like the dual model. And perhaps that there was a skirt like the clamp it replaces to help keep debris out.
One warning: I found it’s possible to fully tighten the clamp and think you’re secure even though the dovetail rail is not fully seated, i.e. clamping the lower edge of the rail rather than the angled side. Scared myself silly when I cradled the scope in my arms prior to releasing the clamp and it came completely free from the mount just by that slight nudge inwards. Now I make VERY sure BOTH sides of the rail are pressing against the bottom of the dovetail before and during tightening. This might not be an issue for vertical mounting but the AZ-GTi is a side mount and you’re mostly doing this by braille.

can you please make another version of this ? I used mines on the AZ GTI in Alt Az mode with a L Bracket that has counter weights … I found the handle/knob to be undersized and it actually “hurt” to extra tighten the clamp … on a dark night I “ loosen the button so much that it came apart on a dark night !! I think if there was a little extra travel it might remedy the coming apart And maybe a chunky or groves knob instead. last straw was when my L Bracket slipped and fell on top of the AZ GTI I ve since replaced the clamp and repurposed the ADM clamp on the bottom of the AZ GTI counterweight shaft …
Maybe it’s because I’m using it differently ?it still a quality lite weight build mayb I need something with more claspin power … In either way I hope the good people s at ADM can address this … I’ve included a photo as to how I use it …

Christian, I agree the VPA clamp is a bit undersized especially when used as a saddle to hold a telescope. You should consider the DVPA-AZGT which provides both a D Series and V series clamp as well as a bigger knob. The VPA version is really intended for ultra lightweight set-ups.

Not as good as I expected.
1. The minimum width is 42mm. But the typical width of the L-adapter for a photo is 38mm. Therefore, you cannot use this accessory without additional tweaks.
2. Now the Dec axis is exposed to dust and moisture, which is not good and could be easily corrected by the manufacturer.

UPDATE 11/15/2021
Aleh, the VPA-AZGT is designed to be used with a Vixen style dovetail bar which is 1.72” (44mm) wide. Without an image of your problem, I am going to assume you are trying to use this adapter with either a MDS dovetail bar which is 1.5” (38mm) wide or an Arca Swiss style dovetail bar which is used in the camera industry. The first generation of this adapter did not have a dust collar on the sides of the adapter. I will update the website to reflect the newest generation of adapters. Let me know when and where you purchased the adapter, and we can work on getting you the latest version of the adapter.

VPA-AZGT saddle for SkyWatcher AZ-GTi Mount.
Great product, professional finish. Much better than original single screw retainer. Feels more secure and looks better. I couldn’t re-use the existing 4 screws to attach the round part to the AZ-GTI, they were not long enough. Went to Home Depot and got longer M3s. Think the screws should have been included or at least mentioned.
Was concerned with overall weight, so the basic V-series is perfect size.

Keith, I am sorry about that. A recent batch of adapters was machined thicker than normal without the proper counterbore depth. Thank you for reporting this issue. I would never want to see one of my customers not have the correct hardware to install their ADM Accessories product. The correct hardware will be included from here on out. Have a nice day.

I would not recommend this adapter if you have a standard V series dovetail mount because its jaws don’t open wide enough to securely clamp the telescope. I tried it with a Explore Scientific 127mm mak and, even with the thin protector plate (that’s attached on the dovetail to prevent marring) removed, loosening the T-screw would release the dovetail in 1 to 1 1/2 turns. Not good, because if you loosened this screw a hair too much its spring would pop out and then you’d get to try and find it (and possibly other flying parts) in the dark. Instead, spend $15 more and get their DVPA- D Series or V Series Dovetail Adapter. Its jaws open up much wider and it clamps down very firmly on my dovetail without worrying if it will spring loose when loosening. The metal knob is also much better quality than the plastic one on this one so unless they redesigned the VPA-AZGT- V I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
